Authorities Respond to Active Shooter Incident at Southport Yacht Basin

SOUTHPORT, N.C – Law enforcement agencies are on the scene following reports of an active shooter at the Southport Yacht Basin late Saturday night, Sept. 27.

The City of Southport issued an emergency alert on social media shortly before 10 p.m., warning residents to avoid the area, remain in their homes, and report any suspicious activity immediately to 911. Officials confirmed that there are an unknown number of injuries at this time.

According to City Manager Noah Saldo, witnesses reported that a boat pulled up to the American Fish Company restaurant and opened fire into a crowd of people before fleeing the scene. Several victims have been transported to local hospitals, though the extent of their injuries remains unclear.

As of 10:30 p.m., the suspect had not been apprehended, and authorities continue to search the waterways and surrounding area. Emergency responders, including police and medical crews, remain on site as the investigation unfolds.
