It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nancy C. Benedict, 70, of Pontiac, Illinois, who tragically lost her life following a two-vehicle accident on the morning of Thursday, September 18, 2025.

Nancy was pronounced dead at 9:56 a.m. at OSF HealthCare St. James Medical Center in Pontiac. Her life was unexpectedly cut short after her vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by another vehicle at the intersection of West Reynolds Street and Walmart Drive.

The accident occurred around 9:19 a.m., and both vehicles sustained significant damage. Nancy and the other driver were transported to the hospital, where Nancy sadly passed. The other driver was treated and released and cited for disobeying a stoplight. No other injuries were reported.

Nancy’s sudden and tragic loss is deeply felt by all who knew her. Known for her warmth, kindness, and quiet strength, Nancy touched many lives in the Pontiac community and beyond. She will be remembered for her unwavering spirit, her generosity, and the love she shared with family and friends.

An autopsy is pending, and the incident remains under investigation by the Pontiac Police Department, the Livingston County Coroner’s Office, and the Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene with traffic control.

As we await further details, the community mourns the loss of a cherished member. Nancy’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her and in the lives she impacted during her time on this earth.
