The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has shared heartbreaking news of the passing of Trooper Jerry Wayne Adamick Jr., who tragically lost his life in the line of duty on the evening of Monday, September 15, 2025. Trooper Adamick was just 44 years old, a devoted husband, father, veteran, and public servant whose dedication to protecting others defined every stage of his life.

According to DPS, Trooper Adamick was driving on FM 945 South in San Jacinto County around 9:15 p.m., responding to assist fellow law enforcement officers on an emergency call, when tragedy struck.

During his response, his patrol vehicle left the roadway, collided with a tree, and caught fire. Despite rapid efforts, Trooper Adamick died at the scene. His loss has left his family, colleagues, and the broader Texas community mourning the passing of a man who exemplified bravery, sacrifice, and service.

Before joining the Texas Department of Public Safety, Jerry Wayne Adamick Jr. built a remarkable career serving his country in the United States Army, where he dedicated more than two decades of service.

During that time, he completed several tours overseas, standing shoulder to shoulder with his brothers- and sisters-in-arms in defense of freedom and security. His military career reflected his steadfast courage, discipline, and willingness to endure hardship for the sake of others.

Trooper Adamick is now solemnly remembered as the 242nd DPS officer to give his life in the line of duty since the department’s founding in 1823.
