A man is accused of impersonating a police officer and responding to emergency calls in full uniform in Washington.
Michael Scaletta-Teates, 49, told detectives he was working with Edmonds police.
Police said he was actually a convicted felon accused of impersonating a police officer.
He allegedly showed up at multiple emergency calls, dressed in a tactical vest with a badge, driving an unmarked ford explorer with flashing blue lights.
Officers say he even called himself “Mezzy Scaletta.”
When he couldn’t provide a police commission card, a required ID for officers, suspicions grew.
Edmonds police confirmed he did not work for the department.
“Hey guys, do we really have to do this in front of…I mean really?” Scaletta-Teates said as officers placed him in custody.
Inside his truck police say Scaletta-Teates had a litany of gear from police patches to a firefighter’s helmet.
He was promptly taken into custody and appeared in court earlier last week.
A judge set his bail for $50,000.
