Authorities are investigating after two people were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in the Coats Bend community on Saturday.
According to the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the 6000 block of Old Highway 411, where they discovered the bodies of an adult male and an adult female. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office, the Jacksonville State University Center for Applied Forensics, and the Etowah County District Attorney’s Office are working together to determine the circumstances that led to the tragedy.
At this time, officials have not released the names of the deceased, and no additional details have been confirmed.
The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains ongoing.
