Victoria Police homicide detectives are investigating after emergency services were called to two homes in Cobblebank, about 33km from the CBD, just after 8pm on Saturday.

At a house on Marble Drive, a young girl was discovered with fatal stab wounds. A second victim, a teenage boy, was found dead at a nearby property on Cobble Street, less than 200 meters away. Police sources described the boy’s injuries as “horrific” and confirmed that both crime scenes appear to be connected.

Streets in shock
The quiet suburban area was turned into a major crime scene on Saturday night, with police tape cordoning off the streets, crime scene vans parked along the road, and a State Emergency Service (SES) tent erected near one of the homes.

Witnesses reported seeing a woman collapse to the ground in anguish outside the Marble Drive address while relatives tried to comfort her. Neighbors, including many parents and teenagers, gathered in shock and disbelief.

“It’s always really quiet here,” said one local resident who has lived on Marble Street for seven years. “You don’t expect something like this to happen so close to home.”

Police investigation underway
Officers were seen speaking with neighbors and teenagers in the area as part of the investigation. Detectives are working to establish the circumstances leading up to the attack and whether a reported black SUV seen in the neighborhood on Saturday evening is linked to the incident.

Victoria Police confirmed that homicide detectives are leading the inquiry. “At this stage the exact circumstances remain unclear,” a spokesperson said. “Emergency services remain at the scene as the investigation continues.”

The identities of the victims have not yet been formally released.
