Serious Crash on Cleveland Road: Car Strikes Semi Head-On in Wayne County

Authorities released further details about the devastating three-vehicle crash that claimed the life of 31-year-old Imogene Osborne of Wooster. The collision occurred after Osborne’s Nissan Sentra collided with a semi-truck, setting off a violent sequence of events. Investigators say the impact with the semi, driven by 61-year-old David McQuillen of Ashland, caused Osborne’s vehicle to become airborne. The Sentra overturned in midair before slamming into a GMC Sierra pickup truck, which was towing an empty horse trailer.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

Emergency crews rushed to the scene within minutes, but the wreckage was extensive, with debris scattered across the roadway. Despite the lifesaving measures attempted, Osborne, who had been wearing her seatbelt, could not survive the catastrophic injuries sustained in the crash. The county coroner pronounced her dead at the scene, marking a tragic end to a life described by friends and family as full of promise and compassion.

The drivers of the other vehicles, McQuillen and 19-year-old Connor Schaffer of Creston, escaped without physical injury, though authorities noted they were deeply shaken by the harrowing events. First responders praised their cooperation and composure in the aftermath, as investigators worked to document the scene and reconstruct the crash sequence.

The highway remained closed for hours as police examined tire marks, vehicle damage, and roadway conditions to determine contributing factors. Preliminary findings show no signs of impairment or reckless driving on the part of McQuillen or Schaffer.

The loss of Osborne has left the Wooster community mourning a young woman whose absence will be profoundly felt. Authorities expressed condolences to her family and encouraged patience as the full investigation unfolds. This tragedy stands as a sobering reminder of the unpredictability of highway travel and the importance of vigilance behind the wheel.
