Authorities have identified Sonja Storm, a Denver native, as the victim of a tragic accident on Interstate 25 in Lone Tree on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Lone Tree Police Department, officers responded to the crash at approximately 3:15 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-25 just north of RidgeGate Parkway. Investigators determined that a tire had come loose from a vehicle traveling northbound, bounced across the median, and struck Storm’s car in the southbound lanes.
Storm died at the scene from her injuries, police confirmed. The driver of the vehicle that lost the tire pulled over and remained at the scene. At this time, it is unclear whether charges will be filed in connection with the crash. as victims
The accident caused major traffic disruptions during rush hour, with drivers urged to use alternate routes. All lanes reopened around 6:12 p.m.
