The heartbreaking news of Tom Davin’s passing is a tremendous loss. A proud Recon Marine, veteran, and American patriot, Tom was far more than the CEO of 5.11 Tactical—he was a mentor, a friend, and a man of vision and integrity. During his time at 5.11, he expanded the brand from a local name to a global force, while never losing sight of the people behind the mission.
Tom’s legacy goes beyond business. As CEO of Panda Express, he championed “Snowball Express,” giving joy and support to the families of fallen heroes. At 5.11, he hired veterans, built them a gym in the warehouse, and gave them a place of healing, camaraderie, and purpose. His support of veterans, first responders, and the community was unwavering. He made time for his people—hosting BBQs, recognizing hard work, and treating everyone like family. Members of our VVA Chapter 785 were always welcomed by Tom and his team, with open arms and gifts we called “TomD discounts.” He had a heart of gold.
I’ll never forget the day he saw me in distress at a medical center and quietly gave me his own cargo pants—simple, kind, life-changing. That was Tom: selfless, humble, and always there. To his beloved wife and daughters—our prayers are with you. Tom now rests in God’s arms, forever on the high ground of our sacred Valhalla. Tom Davin, Park City Utah, Chief Executive Officer 5.11 Tactical – In Loving Memory
