The Chester County, PA community is mourning the loss of Kevin Donahue, a sophomore at Malvern Preparatory School, who was tragically killed in a roadway accident on Tuesday morning.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the incident occurred on Downingtown Pike/Route 322, east of Romig Road in West Bradford Township. Investigators said an eastbound vehicle struck a deer, sending the animal into the westbound lanes, where it landed on the windshield of another vehicle.
Kevin, a passenger in that vehicle, was critically injured. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities said the vehicle that initially struck the deer—believed to be a black Toyota Sienna with heavy front-end damage—left the scene and has not yet been located. Police are urging the driver or anyone with information to contact the Pennsylvania State Police in Embreeville at 610-486-6280.
Kevin Donahue, remembered as a dedicated student and athlete, played offensive line and linebacker for Malvern Prep’s football team, standing 5’10”. His loss is being deeply felt by classmates, teammates, and coaches at the school.
Malvern Prep is expected to provide grief counseling and support services to students and staff in the coming days as the community grieves the sudden and heartbreaking loss.
