Law enforcement officers responded Tuesday to UT Health facilities in Tyler’s Medical District after an active shooter alarm was activated, prompting evacuations and heightened security across the area.

The alarm was triggered at UT Health Olympic Plaza, located near the hospital campus. Witnesses reported people rushing out of the building as emergency alerts went off inside.
“Allison Pollan, Director of Communications with UT Health, confirmed that the active shooter alarm was activated but could not confirm any additional details at this time,” authorities said.
Police officers and security teams quickly arrived on scene, securing the area and assisting with evacuation efforts. As of now, it remains unclear what set off the alarm, and officials have not confirmed whether there is an active threat.
The incident is under investigation, and law enforcement is urging the public to avoid the Medical District until the situation is fully resolved.
