An Uber driver is fighting for her life after being repeatedly stabbed by a passenger at a Gold Coast shopping centre overnight.
Emergency services were called to Westfield Coomera on Foxwell Road just after 1:25 am on Tuesday following reports that a 32-year-old woman had been violently attacked.
Police said the victim, who was working as an Uber driver, suffered multiple stab wounds, including serious injuries to her neck and face.
Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed that shopping centre security staff rushed to the woman’s aid and provided initial treatment before paramedics arrived on the scene. She was later transported to Gold Coast University Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.
A crime scene has been established at the shopping centre as detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the stabbing. Authorities confirmed that the attacker fled the scene and remains on the run.
Police are appealing for witnesses and urging anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area around Westfield Coomera during the early hours of Tuesday morning to come forward.
