It is with great sorrow that we share the passing of Abhigyan Patel, 20, who tragically drowned while swimming off Bean Point on Anna Maria Island on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

Abhigyan was recovered on Monday by rescue crews after he went missing around 7 p.m. while swimming approximately 100 yards offshore in the Gulf of Mexico with another individual. The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed his identity after notifying his family overseas.
Abhigyan was a bright and promising young man whose life was cut tragically short. Though his time here was brief, he made a lasting impact on those who knew him. He will be remembered for his warmth, intelligence, and adventurous spirit.
He is survived by loved ones both in the United States and abroad, who are mourning the sudden loss of a son, friend, and cherished member of their lives.
