It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew “Drew” Peter James Chalmers, 38, of South Philadelphia, who died suddenly at his home on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. Drew’s untimely passing has left a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the wider Philadelphia community, who remember him as a man of infectious energy, kindness, and unwavering loyalty.

Born to Ursel Chalmers of Panama City, Florida, and Doug and Susan Chalmers of Lewes, Delaware, Drew spent his formative years in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Neshaminy High School before pursuing higher education at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and later at Temple University in Philadelphia. These experiences nurtured his passions, broadened his horizons, and established lifelong friendships that would endure throughout his life.
A devoted Philadelphia sports fan, Drew’s love for the city’s teams was legendary. He enthusiastically supported the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, and Union, and his devotion to soccer extended beyond local fandom. A talented player himself, Drew followed international leagues with zeal, particularly the Premier League and Bundesliga, proudly rooting for SV Werder Bremen. His passion for the sport often became a bridge, connecting him to friends near and far and creating countless cherished memories.
Professionally, Drew built a meaningful career in Philadelphia’s hospitality sector. Known for his charisma, quick smile, and ability to connect with people, he became a familiar and beloved presence at many city venues. His work at Citizens Bank Park and Lincoln Financial Field allowed him to combine his love of sports with his professional endeavors, creating experiences that left a lasting impression on colleagues and patrons alike. Most recently, he brought his warmth and professionalism to Libertee Grounds, where he was admired for his energy, dedication, and upbeat demeanor.
Drew’s vibrant personality extended far beyond his professional life. Proud of his Scottish and German heritage, he often celebrated his roots with family and friends. Described as kind, charismatic, and fiercely loyal, he cherished his family and treated his friends as brothers. His chosen family included Ryan Fitzpatrick, Andrew Laba, and Casey Mitchell, who, along with countless others, mourn his loss deeply.
He is survived by his parents, his sisters Elaine (Greg) Ford of Warrington, PA, and Carly (Randall) Pinato of Middletown, DE; his brothers John Para of Pittston, PA, and Michael Para of Croydon, PA; and his nieces Ava and Nora Merschbach. Drew’s extended family in Scotland and Turkey, as well as his wide circle of friends across Philadelphia and beyond, also remember him fondly. His beloved pets, his dog William Wallace and cat Garth, were constant companions and will miss his loving presence.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by The Stolfo Funeral Home on South Broad Street in Philadelphia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Drew’s memory to the Epilepsy Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania, an organization that reflects the generosity and compassion Drew exhibited throughout his life.
