A Hampshire High School wrestling member and student has been identified as the victim who passed away in a deadly incident at a Hampshire home.

Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy at a home in Hampshire late Saturday night. The Hampshire Police Department said officers were called around 11:30 p.m. to a residence in the 100 block of High Street after receiving a report of a shooting inside the home.
When officers arrived, they found Deegan Kirschke, a Hampshire teenager, suffering from a gunshot wound. The Hampshire Fire Protection District responded, but Kirschke was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation Underway
The Pingree Grove Police Department, Gilbert’s Police Department, Kane County Sheriff’s Office, and the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force were called in to assist with the investigation.

The St. Charles Wrestling Club issued a statement:
“The Saint Charles East wrestling family is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former STE Club wrestler Deegan Kirschke. All of our thoughts and prayers are with Dennis and all of Deegan’s family during this very difficult time. We will provide any relevant public information as it becomes available.”
The SCN Youth Wrestling Club also paid tribute:
“SCN is deeply saddened to hear of the tragic loss of former team member, Deegan Kirschke. On behalf of the SCN Youth Wrestling coaches and families, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Deegan’s family, friends, and all who were touched by his life. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.”
Kirschke, remembered as a dedicated athlete and friend, leaves behind a grieving family, teammates, and a community struggling to process the loss of a young life taken too soon.
Police said the shooting was an isolated incident and stressed that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
Officials confirmed the death was not a suicide, but they declined to provide further details regarding the circumstances, citing the active investigation.
“This is an active investigation, and we are not currently releasing any other information,” the Hampshire Police Department said in a statement.
