A motorcycle accident in Caldwell County claimed the life of a Hickory woman on Sunday night, NC State Highway Patrol announced.
Troopers said the deadly crash happened around 7:40 p.m. on Petra Mill Road near Icard Dam Road. A 2015 Harley Davidson was traveling north when the driver lost control, veered off the road, and hit several mailboxes before striking a parked vehicle.
The rider, identified as 61-year-old Belinda Diane Sain, was thrown from the motorcycle. Sadly, she died at the scene from her injuries, according to NC State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said that neither speed nor impairment appear to have played a role in the crash. Petra Mill Road was closed for about an hour while the NC State Highway Patrol investigated.
