CHICAGO, Ill. (August 17, 2025) — A man was fatally shot in a violent incident Sunday afternoon on the West Side of Chicago, marking yet another tragic loss to the city’s ongoing gun violence crisis.
According to preliminary reports, the shooting took place near Madison Street and Laverne Avenue, close to Adams Street, where residents described hearing a series of rapid gunfire. Witnesses say a young man was chased down by an assailant and shot multiple times, collapsing at the scene.
Emergency Response
Police were called to the area shortly after the shooting, arriving to find the victim unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released, pending notification of family.
