UPDATE: The earlier emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act in Applethorpe has been revoked.
The New England Highway remain closed and traffic diversions are in place.

EARLIER: Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) following a traffic crash on New England Highway in Applethorpe this morning, 14 August.
Around 3.40 am, police and emergency services were called to New England Highway following reports of a fuel tanker roll-over.
The PSPA was declared at 6.50 am with the exclusion zone boundaries encompassing New England Highway from Aerodrome Road to High Street, including Mayfair Lane and Melaleuca Crescent.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area and drive with care.
