Donna Landis Obituary

Her loss has left an emptiness that stretches far beyond the walls of our store, touching the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. For decades, Donna was more than just part of the business—she was the heart of it.

She poured herself into Freed’s Market with tireless dedication, ensuring that every customer felt welcome and every coworker felt valued. Her laughter could be heard from one end of the store to the other, lifting spirits even on the busiest or most stressful of days.

A devoted mother, loving wife, and loyal friend, Donna balanced her life with grace, giving the same unwavering care to her family as she did to her community.

She was deeply committed to the people she served, offering not only quality goods but also kindness, conversation, and a sense of belonging that made Freed’s Market more than just a place to shop—it was a gathering place where relationships were built and nurtured.

Those closest to her remember her as a constant source of support and encouragement. One friend shared, “Donna was my second mom… She was the most amazing, beautiful person and I am lucky to have so many fond memories and happy moments with her. Isaac and I made sure to stop by Freed’s every week so he could see her. She was so special to him… The store will not be the same and she will be greatly missed. Prayers for Matt, Tyler, and the Freed family.”

Her kindness was matched by her generosity. Donna had a way of noticing when someone needed a kind word, a helping hand, or simply a smile. She celebrated milestones, shared in sorrows, and was always ready to lend a listening ear. Her care and compassion were felt by all—from regular customers to new visitors, from longtime friends to those she had just met.

Her passing has left a deep ache in the Freed’s Market family. The aisles that once echoed with her laughter and warmth now feel quieter, but her presence will forever be part of the store’s spirit.

Every corner holds a memory—of her arranging displays just so, greeting customers by name, and treating everyone who walked through the door like part of her extended family.

In honor of Donna’s life and legacy, Freed’s Market will be closed all day on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, to allow family, friends, coworkers, and community members to attend her memorial services.

This closure reflects not just a pause in business operations, but a moment for all of us to remember, honor, and celebrate the remarkable woman who gave so much of herself to others.

Donna’s life was a testament to the power of kindness, hard work, and love for community. While her absence will be felt in countless ways, the values she lived by—care for others, commitment to family, and the joy of simple connections—will continue to guide and inspire those she leaves behind.

As we mourn her passing, we also give thanks for the years we were blessed to share with her. Donna’s laughter, kindness, and unwavering dedication will never fade from our hearts. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in every warm smile, every shared memory, and every act of kindness done in her name.
