A Jones High School student has died by suicide after reportedly being bullied for the outfit she wore to school on the first day of classes, according to police.

The tragic incident occurred after school hours on Monday, August 11, at Jones High School, located at 801 S. Rio Grande Avenue in Orlando’s Parramore/Lorna Doone neighborhood.
The Orlando Police Department and Orlando Fire Department responded to the scene, where the student — whose name has not been released — was pronounced dead. Authorities have described the case as “terrible and heartbreaking.”
Parents in the community say the loss is devastating, particularly as it happened on the very first day of the school year. “It’s hard to even process,” one parent said. “No child should feel like this is the only option.”
