An innocent bystander was fatally shot late Wednesday night in Over-the-Rhine, according to officials.
Cincinnati police responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 1600 block of Republic Street, where they discovered a 31-year-old woman who had been shot in the back. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say the gunfire came from a vehicle, with the suspect firing approximately 15 rounds. The victim was walking near Green and Vine streets at the time and was not the intended target.
Police stated there is no ongoing threat to the public. A witness is being questioned, but no suspect information has been released.
