With profound sadness and heavy hearts, the Fontana community and law enforcement family mourn the passing of Officer Edward “Eddie” Bautista, who went to be with the Lord on July 10, 2025.
A dedicated public servant, loving friend, and beacon of positivity, Eddie’s loss leaves an unfillable void in the hearts of all who knew him. Eddie began his career with the Fontana Police Department in 2013, embarking on a path of service, courage, and unwavering dedication to the people of Fontana.
Over the course of more than a decade, he became known not only as a respected officer but as a trusted and beloved figure in the community. Throughout his time with the department, Eddie served in various roles but found his true passion as a K9 handler, forming deep bonds with his canine partners and making a lasting impact on the unit and department as a whole.
His work with the K9 team was more than just a job—it was a calling. Eddie’s love and care for his K9 partners was evident in everything he did, and the teamwork he fostered with them saved lives, enhanced public safety, and brought trust to the streets he patrolled.
He trained, served, and protected with honor, always putting the wellbeing of his fellow officers and his community above his own. While his contributions to law enforcement were remarkable, it was Eddie’s heart and personality that left the deepest impression.
