With heavy hearts, the communities of Columbia, Lexington, and Cayce, South Carolina, mourn the unexpected passing of Nick Leventis, President of Leventis Development LLC and NKD Inc.
Nick passed away suddenly in early July 2025, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of leadership, friendship, and dedication to family and community. He was a proud South Carolinian, a successful entrepreneur, and a beloved friend whose presence lit up every room he entered.
Born and raised in Cayce, South Carolina, Nick Leventis grew up surrounded by strong values of hard work, integrity, and loyalty—principles that would guide him throughout his life.
He attended Brookland-Cayce High School, where he was known not only for his academic achievements but for his larger-than-life personality and deep friendships, many of which spanned decades.
Following high school, Nick pursued a Bachelor of Science in Management at the University of South Carolina – Columbia, where he further developed his passion for business and leadership. His time at USC laid the foundation for what would become a long and successful career as a business owner and developer.
As President of Leventis Development LLC and NKD Inc, Nick was a driving force in shaping commercial and residential projects across the Midlands region.
His work brought jobs, revitalized neighborhoods, and created lasting infrastructure that reflected his forward-thinking mindset and commitment to community growth.
Nick was widely respected among peers in the development and construction industries for his sharp insight, tireless work ethic, and genuine relationships with clients, partners, and employees.
But Nick’s professional accomplishments only tell part of the story. To those who knew him best, he was so much more—a fiercely loyal friend, a supportive mentor, a generous neighbor, and a man who never hesitated to lend a hand or offer a word of encouragement.
His laughter was contagious, his advice always straight from the heart, and his capacity to care for others knew no bounds. His sudden passing has left many stunned and grieving.
One tribute captured the loss poignantly:
“Two losses in succession. Heart lifted in celebration of the life of our dear friend of over 40 decades. The world’s a brighter place because of Nick Leventis.”
Those who were lucky enough to know Nick understood that sentiment deeply. He was the kind of person who made others feel seen, valued, and uplifted. Whether he was overseeing a major real estate project or simply enjoying a quiet evening in Lexington, Nick brought warmth and energy to every interaction.
He made his home in Lexington, South Carolina, where he was known as both a civic-minded businessman and a friend to many. From supporting local initiatives to mentoring young professionals, Nick believed in giving back to the community that had shaped him.
Nick is survived by a close-knit and loving family, along with countless friends and colleagues who will carry forward his memory with pride and love. Funeral arrangements will be announced in the coming days, with plans underway for a memorial that reflects the full and meaningful life Nick lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Nick’s honor to a charitable organization that supports community development—causes that were near and dear to his heart.
As Columbia and surrounding communities grapple with the loss of Nick Leventis, his legacy lives on in every project he touched, every person he mentored, and every friend he lifted up. Nick leaves behind not just buildings, businesses, and plans—but stories, memories, and a spirit of generosity that will endure for years to come.
